Simulator Maintenance and Support

Throughout the life-cycle of a plant, modifications to the process or control system are being made to optimize operations. To ensure that maximum value is obtained from using a training simulator it is important that the simulators are continually updated to reflect the process and control changes. However, experience shows that 50% of simulator users do not keep their training system up-to-date. As a result, the training simulator is not used as often as it could by operators and engineers and the value of the original investment is rapidly depreciated.

Hyperion engineers, through their extensive experience, are able to maintain and support operator training applications for models in OTISS™, HYSYS™, and DYNSIM™ which are connected to distributed control systems (DCS) from a variety of vendors, like Honeywell, Yokogawa, ABB, Emerson, and Foxboro.
Figure4
The pie-chart shows a typical age distribution for currently installed simulators. Only 50% of the simulators are up-to-date, i.e. less than two years old. A simulator cannot match the plant behavior after a few years’ of changes in the field, unless properly maintained. Hyperion is committed to support existing operating training simulators, ensuring that the customer continues to benefit from his investment in training simulators.
Our services include:
  • Modeling services
  • Provision of site-resident engineers
  • Development of training scenarios
  • Update of operating procedures
  • Training  and documentation
Our target is to help the customers maintain their simulator systems in working order, so that they can be used effectively in the daily operations and support operators, engineers, and managers.
