Hyperion Systems Engineering - Hyperion announces Interface to Yokogawa Centum CS 3000 DCS for use in Operator Training Simulator (OTS) Applications

New Interface provides productivity tools for more effective integration of OTS models with Yokogawa DCS and the achievement of realistic and effective operating skills development.

Watford UK, 8th January 2007. Hyperion Systems Engineering Ltd., the leading independent OTS supplier, providing high quality custom made solutions and services to process industries worldwide, has announced the release of a new interface for Yokogawa Centum CS 3000 DCS for use with Operator Training Simulator (OTS) technology. The new Interface aids faster development of OTS systems leading to the earlier development of operator skills in a wide range of operating scenarios. This interface technology product has already been implemented by Hyperion on two OTS projects.

The Interface connects rigorous dynamic simulation models to the Yokogawa DCS environment, using the Yokogawa EXATIF product, giving a complete simulation of the Yokogawa DCS control functions. The interface supports the full range of OTS features such as freeze/resume, and initial condition load/save. A significant feature of the Hyperion-built package is the range of productivity tools to aid model integration with the DCS. These include:

"Configuration Verification", which compares the DCS and model configurations, and detects potential errors.
"Synchronization", which synchronizes the DCS with the simulator, so that on completion, the DCS controllers match those in the simulation, and are ready to take control.
A spreadsheet tool, which updates a specially constructed spreadsheet with internal data from the DCS and the models.
Hyperion is working on the development of other OTS products which be announced as they become available.
